Professor Edward Blakely
One of the world’s leading scholars and practitioners of urban policy, Professor Edward Blakely has been Dean of the School of Urban Planning and Development at the University of Southern California and Dean of the Robert J. Milano Graduate School of Management and Urban Policy, New School University in New York City. He currently serves as an Honorary Professor in Urban Policy at The United States Studies Centre at The University of Sydney. He is the Founder and Chair of the Future Cities Collaborative. In addition to Professor Blakely’s background in academia, the Professor has an extensive record of public service that includes advising the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the city of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, state and federal governments in Australia and the United States, as well as governments in Korea, Japan, Sweden, Indonesia, New Zealand and Vietnam. The Future Cities Collaborative allows Professor Blakely to combine his passion for sustainable urban design with his expertise in teaching and fostering capacity building in all levels of government.
Sandy is an experienced business executive whose career includes 20 years in developing and leading business strategy, marketing, change and business transformation within the telecommunication, retail service and not for profit sectors. Sandy has a Master of Sustainable Development and is focussed on the collaboration between business, government and community in developing integrated approaches to building sustainable urban communities. As Director of the Future Cities Collaborative, Sandy builds and develops these networks, expanding the potential for establishing integrated approaches to sustainable urban development.
Harriet is a recent graduate from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of International and Global Studies (Honours) degree. Harriet has a keen interest in urban policy development, and is focused on helping the members of the the Future Cities Collaborative achieve practical, workable, and sustainable solutions to the urban policy challenges they face. As the Program Associate of the Future Cities Collaborative, Harriet coordinates the events and initiatives of the Future Cities Collaborative, liaises with members and partners, and manages the media for the Future Cities Collaborative.
